Cool off from the blistering Texas heat and join the Railroad and Heritage Museum for “Beat the Heat” Family Day. On Saturday, July 7th, the Museum will be keeping it cool with several summer-themed activities and crafts from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Visitors will be able to play with a bubble pool, make their own pinwheel, and craft their own neck cooler. Does your boat float? Find out at a boat building station where families can assemble a small boat and test their own engineering skills. In addition, Kona Ice will be outside the museum from 11:30-12:30 p.m. giving out a cool icy treat to those in attendance. Kids will also be able to hop aboard the museum’s barrel train for a free ride.

The Temple Railroad and Heritage Museum hosts a Free Family Day event on the first Saturday of each month. Attendance to the event is free. Regular admission charges apply to view the rest of the museum. The museum is located in the Santa Fe Depot at 315 West Avenue B in downtown Temple. The museum is open 10am – 4pm, Tuesday – Saturday.
